One For One Summer Internships

expanding economic Opportunity.

There are many barriers that prevent African American and Latinx young adults from getting jobs in Chicago. Lack of connections and limited resources often hinder opportunities for quality employment.

The Keeping Grounded Program was established in 2017 and provides paid summer internships to One For One teens at urban farm locations on the west side of Chicago. Partners on the west side have included Herban Produce, The Roof Crop, and Metropolitan Farms, focused on teaching hands-on urban agriculture, horticulture, hydroponics, and rooftop farm/landscape experience, as well as valuable career readiness skills in safe and nurturing environments.

Beyond the summer months, we also help expose our teens year-round to a range of career paths and find job placements for them in and around their communities.
