This past Memorial Day Weekend was one we won’t soon forget.

With funding for the arts being continually cut, there has never been a more important time to support the creative development of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. The good folks at CBS Television’s ‘The Good Fight’ have been inspired by and draw from the narratives of Chicago in their show and are interested in giving back to the city that has given them so much.

CBS Television sponsored a two-day workshop during the holiday weekend for our teens with the cast and crew of CBS All Access’ hit original drama series ‘The Good Fight’. The female led show is set in an African American law firm. Led by actors Cush Jumbo (Lucca Quinn) and Nyambi Nyambi (Jay DiPersia) with the support of the series production team including director/producer Brooke Kennedy, cast and crew flew in from NYC to teach One For One participants about the inner workings of television and career possibilities ranging from directing and wardrobe to acting and camera work.

The final cut of the scene One For One teens acted in!

One For One alumni Sania Franklin also got a chance to sit down with Ms. Jumbo to talk to CBS Chicago News about this amazing opportunity.

The workshop gave participants access to a unique experience and exposed them to this area of the arts by building confidence, improving teamwork, expressing themselves as individuals and fostering a belief that what they have to say is important and that what they want to say can be channeled positively. Below is a look at our stars, captured so perfectly at the end of an uplifting weekend.
