A Meaningful Day at Mariani Landscape
We had an opportuntiy to leave the urban farm for a day and take a field trip to Mariani Landscape in Lake Bluff. The team at Mariani were terrific hosts, taking our kids on a tour of the facilities, learning from employees in various departments, hearing from owner Frank Mariani himself, and ending the day with a hands-on activity of making herb planters that they got to take home.
What is so important about outings like these are that the interns have direct access to employees and get to hear from them about how they got started in a particular job or role within their organization. In many stories shared by the Mariani team, getting an opportunity for a job allowed them to work hard and make their way up the ladder and create a career that is fulfilling and one that they are proud of.
