Keeping Grounded Summer Internships In Full Swing!

Happy Summer to All! We are thrilled to share with you that our Keeping Grounded Summer Internship Program kicked off earlier this month and is thriving! Special thanks to our amazing 2022 partners, the Garfield Park Community Council and their Youth Garden Corps Team, The Hatchery for hosting our workshop space, and retired CPS teacher Ms. Carol Williams for leading our summer work program.

Our interns are learning hands-on urban farming, life skills, career readiness training and even supporting younger participants in the community who are not quite old enough for our full internship program. We have so many inspiring young leaders in our group and are overflowing with love and gratitude. After a challenging couple of years with the pandemic, we are grateful for the ability to run a robust program during a time when youth in our city need the opportunities more than ever.

Here are some of our Interns alongside our Interns-In-Training helping out over the weekend at Playstreets! a collaborative initiative supporting the development of healthier and stronger communities by creating safe and accessible residential play areas for kids to be active, learn and for neighbor to come together. Sponsored by the Chicago Department of Public Health in partnership with Gads Hill Center, Garfield Park Community Council and One For One Chicago!
