More Than Just A Garden: Empowering Tomorrow’s Landscape Professionals With Mariani Landscape

A day of hands-on learning and inspiration

Last month, the good people at Mariani Landscape https://www.marianilandscape.com hosted our enterprising summer interns for an immersive field trip, spotlighting agriculture and landscape.

We headed north to the Mariani yard in Lake Bluff, IL to learn about career opportunities in the landscape industry.

Dedicated members from Mariani’s garden, landscape design, maintenance production, greenhouse and marketing teams all took time out of their busy schedules to share their inspiring career journeys and shared valuable insights into their respective job responsibilities.

The interns also were able to plant their own herb gardens, which they were immensely proud to take back to the city with them!

Real World Application: Keeping Grounded Garden Progam

To make the experience even more memorable, the Mariani team in collaboration with our students, also provided guidance on the design of our own Chicago garden site in the Austin neighborhood, allowing students to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mariani Landscape and their shop team for generously providing us with essential tools like shovels, rakes, loppers, clippers, pitchforks, hoses and LOTS of mulch. These contributions have empowered our interns to lay the groundwork and cultivate their own community garden space within their own neighborhood.

The unwavering support of the Mariani Landscape team has been instrumental to the success of One For One Chicago, providing numerous valuable insights and invaluable hands-on learning opportunities for our interns. We are truly thankful for their dedication and support of our cause.

It All Starts With One.
